Scuba Diving Vacations
DISCOVER why thousands of scuba divers visit Fiji each year. The coral reefs around Fiji offer pristine diving vacation experiences for both experienced and novice divers. Soft coral is particularly beautiful, giving rise to the oft-heard expression that Fiji is the ' soft coral capital of the world '! Dive courses are also offered by the dive shops and dive resorts; the warm tropical waters make this a perfect spot to learn to dive. Fiji has a professional dive association ensuring good diving practices around the country and some of the world's top diving reefs are found in Fiji. There is also a hyperbaric chamber in Suva, the capital of Fiji.
- The Rainbow Reef near Taveuni is one of the top Fiji diving locations, with the Great White Wall one of the most popular dive sites.
- Try Waisalima Resort for the Astrolabe is accessed from Kadavu Island or by liveaboard operators such as the Nai'a. It is a vast, pristine reef - the fourth largest living organism in the world.
- Beqa Lagoon is another top Fiji diving spot. Dive trips are offered out of Pacific Harbour as well as from the resorts on Beqa Island. Shark feeding dives are conducted here, which are very popular with scuba divers visiting Fiji.
- The Bligh Waters around Nananu-i-Ra Island and the Lomaiviti region are also popular destinations for Fiji diving vacations.
- The Nadi, Denarau, Mamanuca and Yasawa resorts offer diving trips to many dive site locations around these beautiful island groups. Whilst not as challenging as some of the other destinations, they nevertheless provide beautiful diving experiences.
Well-known dive operators in Fiji include Aquatrek Beqa Diving, Beqa Adventure Divers, Scuba Bula and Dive Crusoes (both on the Coral Coast), plus Taveuni Dive and Jewel Bubble Divers (Taveuni). There are many other dive operations throughout the Fiji Islands. Many resorts have their own dive shops on site, whilst others utilise the service of independent dive operations.
