Surfing Islands Holiday Guide
FIJI is popular with surfers worldwide and there are a number of top surfing spots to be found. These include famous breaks such as Cloudbreak, Wilkes, Swimming Pools, Desperations and Lighthouse/mini-Cloudbreak, all found in the vicinity of Tavarua Island in the south of the Mamanucas.
- Nagigia Island Resort located on a small island in the south of Fiji is a Fiji surf camp, with good surf breaks and affordable accommodation for individuals or groups.
- Frigates Passage (or Pass) is located near Beqa Island south of the mainland. Accommodation can be found on Yanuca Island, Beqa Island as well as at Pacific Harbour and Waidroka Bay on the mainland. One of the few breaks in Fiji where one is able to surf all day, high or low tide.
- Well-known surf breaks including Cloudbreak are found near the island of Tavarua in the south of the Mamanuca Islands.
For the Tavarua surf breaks, apart from staying on Tavarua Island itself, other resorts include Seashell@Momi and Rendezvous Surf and Dive Resort, both on the nearby mainland and both of which have surf boats operating regular surfing trips. Places to stay for Frigates Passage include Waidroka Bay Surf and Dive Resort on the mainland, Yanuca Island Resort or most of the resorts on Beqa. These include Kulu Bay Resort as well as the budget Lawaki Beach House.
